Producing Positive Results In The Community

The members of Alpha Kappa Nu Fraternity Incorporated hold philanthropy very close to their hearts and we are dedicated to serving our community. Our organization is pleased to continue our partnerships with various philanthropic organizations in the area, and we are proud to be making a difference in the lives of many. Kappa Pantry

Alpha Kappa Nu uses our vast resources monthly to acquire, assemble, and distribute lunches and dinner for homeless citizens in our nations capital city. Parks, bus stations, and much of our downtown area is encompassed with these victims of circumstance who our overcrowded and undeserved shelter facilities cannot facilitate. We take it upon ourselves to not only seek them out but provide them with meals to sustain them that day.

Community Cleanup

Members of AKN participated in activities such as painting, planting flowers, cleaning off the property, and revitalizing the grounds and vacant living quarters of local North Jackson apartment complex Edgewood Terrace. Pictured here is Nayja Johnson new initiate for the Fall of 2017.

NU Horizons: Community Outreach

These events are bi-monthly occurring at popular LGBT venues such as club Metro Reloaded in Jackson, MS. They often consist of boards, pamphlets, or gift bags containing valuable information referencing the many disparities both political, social, and health concerns facing our community. We utilize these tools as means to not only promote ourselves as an organization but as informative means to promoting healthier living, and safe sex.
